CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Jessica Oleinik has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Hockey Player of the Week, as MIT picked up two key wins this week, including the program's first ever defeat of Springfield College on Saturday. Oleinik recorded three goals in the two games to help the Engineers improve to 9-2 and 1-1 in NEWMAC play.
The junior's two tallies on Saturday were critical in helping Tech knock-off defending NEWMAC Champion, Springfield, for the first time in 16 tries. Oleinik also scored the game-tying goal in a 2-1 win over Endicott on Tuesday. She now leads the team with 12 markers on the season.
Oleinik is the second recipient of the award for the Cardinal and Grey this year. Teammate Anna Teruya was honored in the first week of the season.
