MIT to Take Part in Play 4 the Cure Saturday

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-The MIT field hockey team will participate in the Play 4 the Cure effort in conjunction with the Susan G. Komen Foundation this Saturday, October 10. The Cardinal and Grey welcome Wellesley College to Jack Barry Field at 1:00 p.m. A table will be set at the entrance to the field prior to the Saturday's game to collect donations and distribute breast cancer awareness information.

Play 4 the Cure was started by Tina Reinprecht, founded, director and coach of the Mystx Field Hockey Club. The movement began with an indoor field hockey tournament in 2006 to benefit breast cancer research. Since then Play 4 the Cure has contributed over $11,000 to the Philadelphia affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Last year over 150 field hockey teams from across the country took part part in Play 4 the Cure events.

Other ways in which MIT will raise awareness:
-Pink field hockey balls will be used
-Players will wear pink sweatbands
-Pink game programs will be printed
-A table will be set up at the entrance to Jack Barry Field with breast cancer awareness information
-A collection will be taken for fans who wish to make a donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation
