Anna Teruya Collects Weekly Accolades

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - After helping lead MIT to its best start in 12 years, sophomore Anna Teruya was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Hockey Co-Player of the Week. Teruya recorded four goals last week, including a dramatic game-winner against UMass-Dartmouth Saturday, as the Engineers began the season with three straight wins.

With the teams locked at one in the final ten minutes on Saturday, Teruya took a pass from Kameron Klauber off a penalty corner and fired a shot into the back of the net, giving MIT a 2-1 advantage that it would not relinquish. Teruya started the week with a pair of goals and an assist against New England College as Tech won its opener 7-2. She added another marker on Thursday to help down Gordon College, 6-3. The sophomore also anchored a defense that surrendered just six goals over the three wins.
