Kimberly Barker Named NEWMAC Offensive Player of the Week
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Following a fine start to the 2012 campaign, senior Kimberly Barker (Camden, N.Y.) was selected for NEWMAC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week honors on Monday. She registered four goals and one assist for five points in a 2-0 weekend for nationally-ranked No. 20 MIT.
In the season-opener against New England College, Barker scored the first two goals of the game and assisted the third to give the Engineers a 3-0 halftime lead en route to a 7-1 victory. The next day, she scored twice in a 3-1 decision over UMass Dartmouth, including an insurance goal with 20 minutes left to play.
Next up for MIT will be back-to-back road games, the first at Lasell College on Tuesday, Sept. 4 with a trip to Simmons College slated for the next day.
