WELLESLEY, Mass. – Junior Michelle Teplensky (Somers, N.Y.) was voted the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week following an outstanding performance in MIT's 1-0 victory over Springfield College on Saturday. Her selection marks the second straight for the Engineers as senior Molly McShane (Lake Bluff, Ill.) was tabbed for the award last week.
Teplensky helped MIT contain the Pride in the midfield as it only generated three shots compared to 22 by the Engineers. In addition, she limited Springfield's leading scorer to just one shot on the day.
MIT kicks off a three-game home stand on Tuesday, Oct. 16 against NEWMAC foe Wheaton College.
