Kyritsis Named NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week

BOSTON, Mass. – For the second week in a row MIT earned NEWMAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week accolades as sophomore goalie Evie Kyritsis (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) was selected for the award on Monday. In a 2-0 week for the nationally-ranked No. 20 Engineers, she compiled 17 saves and allowed one goal in 158 minutes of action.

Kyritsis started the week with four saves in a complete-game 3-0 win over Simmons College last Thursday. Two days later, she tallied 13 saves versus UMass Dartmouth, including three during the first overtime session and another early in the second overtime period helping MIT win, 2-1.

The Cardinal and Gray (3-0) return to action this Tuesday when it hosts Gordon College at 6:00 p.m.
