BOSTON, Mass. – Previously recognized by the NEWMAC for her defensive prowess earlier this season, MIT senior Michelle Teplensky (Somers, N.Y.) was named the league's Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. In a 2-0 week for the nationally-ranked No. 19 Engineers, she generated four goals and two assists.
Teplensky earned the assist for MIT's second goal and found the back of the net twice in the first half en route to a 9-0 victory over Lasell College last Tuesday. She followed up this performance by being a factor in all three goals as the Engineers defeated Springfield College, 3-2, in their NEWMAC opener on Saturday. Teplensky recorded the equalizer in the 16th minute and the go-ahead goal four minutes later before setting up the game-winning marker 5:02 into the second half.
MIT (7-0, 1-0 NEWMAC) returns to action this Thursday when it travels to Endicott College for a 6:00 p.m. start.
