CENTERVILLE, Mass. – MIT senior Michelle Teplensky (Somers, N.Y.) earned her second accolade of the week as she was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Field Hockey New England Offensive Player of the Week. On Monday, she received the same recognition from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference and was previously selected as the league's Defensive Player of the Week.
Last week, Teplensky tallied four goals and two assists in a pair of wins for the No. 17 Engineers. She earned the assist for MIT's second goal and found the back of the net twice in the first half en route to a 9-0 victory over Lasell College last Tuesday. Teplensky followed up this performance by being a factor in all three goals as the Engineers defeated Springfield College, 3-2, in their NEWMAC opener on Saturday. She recorded the equalizer in the 16th minute and the go-ahead goal four minutes later before setting up the game-winning marker 5:02 into the second half.
This was the second time the MIT field hockey program has collected ECAC plaudits this season as sophomore goalie Evie Kyritsis (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) was tabbed for the Defensive Player of the Week award on September 7.
The Engineers (7-0, 1-0 NEWMAC) return to action this Thursday when they travel to Endicott College for a 6:00 p.m. start.
