  • MIT Field Hockey Collects NFHCA Academic Accolades

    For the fifth year in a row the MIT field hockey team reached double-digits in National Academic Squad selections from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) as 12 student-athletes earned a spot on the list. In addition, the Engineers received their 15th straight National Academic Team Award by achieving a minimum 3.0 team GPA on a 4.0 scale during the 2016 Fall semester.
  • Emily Penn Receives NFHCA All-America Honors

    Chandler, Ariz. (December 6) – Junior Emily Penn (Columbia, Md.) became the 13th player in the history of the MIT field hockey program to receive All-America honors following her placement on the third team as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) on Tuesday. This is her first national accolade from the organization.

    Chandler, Ariz. (November 28) – For the fourth time in program history and first since 2012, the MIT field hockey team saw four student-athletes receive all-region accolades from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). Juniors Emily Penn (Columbia, Md.) and Katie Notarangelo (Foxboro, Mass.) represented the Engineers on the New England East Region first team while senior Krishna Jaitly (Bethesda, Md.) and sophomore Bailey Tregoning (Frederick, Md.) secured spots on the second team.

    Boston, Mass. (November 8) – For the second year in a row the MIT field hockey team collected four All-Conference accolades from the NEWMAC. Junior Emily Penn (Columbia, Md.) earned her third straight first-team honor and was joined by classmate Katie Notarangelo (Foxboro, Mass.) as a repeat first-team pick. On the second team, the Engineers were represented by senior Krishna Jaitly (Bethesda, Md.) and sophomore Bailey Tregoning (Frederick, Md.), both of whom received their first plaudits from the league.

    In the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship Game, the third-seeded MIT field hockey team dropped a hard-fought 1-0 final to top-seeded and No. 9 ranked Babson on Sunday afternoon. MIT is ranked No. 3 in the latest NCAA New England East regional rankings, while the Beavers are the top-ranked team in the region.
  • MIT Holds Off Smith, 3-2, in NEWMAC Field Hockey Semifinals

    Three different players found the back of the net to help No. 3 seeded MIT defeat No. 2 Smith College, 3-2, in the semifinals of the NEWMAC Tournament on Saturday. The Engineers will face top seed and nationally-ranked No. 9 Babson College in the championship at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.

    A hat trick by junior Emily Penn (Columbia, Md.) propelled No. 3 seeded MIT to a 4-2 victory over No. 6 Springfield College in the quarterfinals of the NEWMAC field hockey tournament on Tuesday night. With the win, the Engineers secured a spot in the semifinals for the seventh time in eight seasons.

  • Penn Produces Goal and Assist in MIT’s 2-0 Win over Mount Holyoke

    Aided by a goal in each half, the MIT field hockey team posted a 2-0 victory over Mount Holyoke College in NEWMAC action on Saturday. Junior Emily Penn (Columbia, Md.) was the source of the Engineers’ offense as she recorded a goal and an assist.

The Engineers used a hat trick from junior Emily Penn (Columbia, Md.) to pull even early in the second, setting the stage for the game-winning score from freshman Devon Goetz (Rockville, Md.).
