MIT Field Hockey Prepares for NCAA Tournament

Indianapolis, Ind. (November 6) – After winning its first NEWMAC title since 2012 and fifth overall, the nationally-ranked No. 12 MIT field hockey team learned it received a first-round bye in the NCAA Tournament. The Engineers (16-2) will play either Centre College or Washington & Jefferson College on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 2:00 p.m. at The College of New Jersey.

The No. 2 seed in the NEWMAC tournament, MIT earned a bye and a spot in the semifinals where it defeated No. 6 seed Wellesley College, 2-1, and then held off nationally-ranked No. 3 and top-seeded Babson College, 1-0, in the title game.

Centre (15-4) captured the program's second Southern Athletic Association championship after defeating Rhodes College, 4-1, this past weekend. Washington & Jefferson (13-4) also earned its second Empire 8 title following a 3-1 victory over Utica College on Saturday.
