CAMBRIDGE, MASS. - A goal by Gordon College in the opening minutes set the tone as the Fighting Scots (3-0) went on to defeat MIT, 4-2, on Saturday afternoon. Cheryl Texin tied the game for the Engineers (1-2) three minutes later. Tech took its only lead in the 21st minute when Margaret Gentile set up Noelle Kanaga for the go-ahead goal. With four minutes remaining in the half, Gordon went on to tally three unanswered goals to take a 4-2 advantage. In the second stanza, MIT struggled to capitalize on 16 penalty corner opportunities. For the second time, Alexa Herman and Safia Chettih split the game in goal. Herman had seven saves in the first half while Chettih had six in the second half.
The next game for MIT will be Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 6:00 p.m. when it hosts Salve Regina University.
