Field Hockey Falls in NEWMAC Quarterfinal

WORCESTER, MASS. - The Clark University field hockey team defeated the MIT Engineers 3-0 in a NEWMAC Championship quarterfinal game in Worcester, Mass. Clark's Kristina Richio scored in the last minute of the first half to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead. Richio added another goal in the second half on an assist by Ashley Perez. MIT had a number of good opportunities in the second half but goalkeeper Kaitlin Kelley made a number of key saves for the Cougars to keep them off the board. Kelley ended the game with 11 saves and recorded her seventh shutout of the season. Brittney Wickles added an insurance goal with 9:08 left to play.
Goalie Alexa Herman made 12 saves for MIT while Sharon Prange, Cheryl Texin, and Amada Smith each posted one defensive save. The Engineers finish the season with an overall record of 10-7 and a 5-3 mark in the NEWMAC.
