NEWMAC Announces Spring Academic All-Conference Awards
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A league-leading 60 athletes represented MIT on the 2013 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Spring Academic All-Conference Team. The Engineers finished the year with a conference-high 145 selections, followed by WPI with 101.

Wacker and Wright Collect NEWMAC All-Conference Honors
BABSON PARK, Mass. – The MIT women’s lacrosse team maintained its annual presence on the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference team as senior Laura Wacker (Brooklyn, N.Y.) earned a spot on the first team while classmate Meghan Wright (Devon, Pa.) was voted to the second team. The selections for the first-time honorees mark the 19th consecutive year the Engineers have received at least one award.

Engineers Fall to Babson in NEWMAC Quarterfinals
BABSON PARK, Mass. – The MIT women’s lacrosse team saw its season come to an end on Wednesday afternoon as it fell to Babson College, 20-7, in the quarterfinal round of the NEWMAC Championship Tournament. Freshman Kira Schott (New Canaan, Conn.) compiled three goals, five draw controls, and two groundballs for the Engineers who finish the year with a ledger of 6-11.

Women's Lacrosse Falls to Springfield, 11-7
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In the regular-season finale for both squads, Springfield College defeated MIT, 11-7, in a NEWMAC women’s lacrosse game on Monday night. Freshman Kira Schott (New Canaan, Conn.) paced the Engineers (6-10, 2-4 NEWMAC) with four goals while freshman Connie Nielsen (Sayville, N.Y.) registered four goals and an assist for the Pride (9-7, 4-2 NEWMAC).

Wacker Breaks Records as MIT Defeats Eastern Connecticut, 16-15
WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – Senior Laura Wacker (Brooklyn, N.Y.) racked up 10 goals including the game-winner to lead the MIT women’s lacrosse team to a 16-15 victory over Eastern Connecticut State University on Thursday night. Her scoring performance broke the MIT record for goals in a game as the previous mark of nine was set by Tracy Sadowski ’99 in 1997. In addition, Wacker surpassed the standard of 142 career goals which was established by former teammate Casey Flynn ’10.

Engineers Rally Past Wellesley, 16-13
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – With the score knotted at 10 midway through the second half, MIT mounted a 5-0 run that propelled it to a 16-13 victory over Wellesley College in a NEWMAC women’s lacrosse game on Tuesday night. Senior Meghan Wright (Devon, Pa.) scored two of her game-high six goals during the pivotal rally for the Engineers (5-9, 2-3 NEWMAC). Sophomore Claire Canty (East Rockaway, N.Y.) also turned in a six-point performance for the Blue (6-7, 1-4 NEWMAC) as she totaled three goals and three assists to go along with six groundballs and five draw controls.

Drew Defeats Women's Lacrosse, 17-11
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In the first meeting between both programs, Drew University defeated MIT, 17-11, in a non-conference women’s lacrosse game on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Krysta Cento (Garden City, N.Y.) led all scorers with seven goals and three assists to go along with five groundballs, two draw controls, and a caused turnover for the Rangers (5-7). Senior Laura Wacker (Brooklyn, N.Y.) paced the Engineers (5-8) with four goals and added three groundballs.

MIT Battles Babson in NEWMAC Women's Lacrosse Game
BABSON PARK, Mass. - Stingy defense coupled with solid ball control powered Babson College to a 20-3 victory over MIT in a NEWMAC women's lacrosse game on Tuesday night. For the second game in a row senior Laura Wacker (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Engineers' attack as she produced a pair of goals.

MIT Women's Lacrosse Falls to Mount Holyoke, 17-6
SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - A pair of big runs helped propel Mount Holyoke College past MIT, 17-6, in a NEWMAC women's lacrosse game on Saturday afternoon. Senior Laura Wacker (Brooklyn, N.Y.) paced the Engineers (4-7, 1-2 NEWMAC) with three goals and added a draw control.

Keene State Tops Engineers, 12-3
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Keene State College outscored MIT, 9-1, in the first half en route to a 12-3 victory in a non-conference women's lacrosse game on Thursday night. Sophomore Emma Kane (Garden City, N.Y.) earned assists on two goals for the Engineers (4-6) while senior Nicole Curry (Hampstead, N.H.) tallied three goals and an assist for the Owls (4-5).

Balanced Attack Powers Women's Lacrosse Past Framingham State, 21-6
FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Sophomore Emma Kane (Garden City, N.Y.) amassed five goals and two assists in leading the MIT women’s lacrosse team to a 21-6 victory over Framingham State University on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Engineers improved to 4-5 on the year.

MIT Overcomes First-Half Deficit to Defeat Smith, 17-11
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Smith College tallied six straight goals to start its NEWMAC women’s lacrosse game with MIT, but the Engineers battled back to defeat the Pioneers, 17-11, on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Kira Schott (New Canaan, Conn.) registered a game-high six goals to go along with seven groundballs and a caused turnover as MIT improved to 3-5 on the year and 1-1 in conference play. Sophomore Jessica Lillquist (East Lyme, Conn.) paced Smith (1-7, 0-1 NEWMAC) with three goals and an assist while contributing three draw controls and a caused turnover.

Second-Half Run Pushes Pacific Past MIT, 15-7
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Pacific University outscored MIT, 8-3, in the second half en route to a 15-7 victory in a women’s lacrosse game on Wednesday afternoon. Senior Meghan Wright (Devon, Pa.) compiled two goals, four draw controls, three groundballs, and three caused turnovers for the Engineers (2-5).

MIT Falls to Colorado College in Spring Break Opener
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – In the program’s first trip to Colorado, the MIT women’s lacrosse team was defeated by Colorado College, 20-9, on Tuesday. Senior Laura Wacker (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Engineers (2-4) with six points on two goals and an assist.

Wheaton Holds Off Engineers, 13-11
NORTON, Mass. – Despite outscoring Wheaton College, 9-3, in the second half, it would not be enough as the Lyons would hold on for a 13-11 victory over the MIT women’s lacrosse team on Saturday. Senior Laura Wacker (Brooklyn, N.Y.) paced the Engineers with four goals and an assist as they ledger moved to 2-3 on the year and 0-1 in NEWMAC play.

Laura Wacker Named NEWMAC Offensive Player of the Week
WELLESLEY, Mass. – Following a pair of outstanding performances, senior Laura Wacker (Brooklyn, N.Y.) of the MIT women’s lacrosse team was named Offensive Player of the Week by the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference on Monday. In a 2-0 week for the Engineers, she compiled 11 goals, five groundballs, a caused turnover, and was 6-of-8 in free-position shots.

Big First Half Powers Women's Lacrosse Past Maine-Farmington, 20-4
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In the first meeting between both programs, the MIT women’s lacrosse team rattled off 11 unanswered goals in the first half en route to a 20-4 victory over University of Maine at Farmington on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Isabella DiDio (Jenkintown, Pa.) produced a game-high seven points on five goals and two assists for the Engineers (2-2) while freshman Ayla Allen (Rumford, Maine) led the Beavers (1-1) with two goals and an assist.

Wright and Wacker Lead MIT in 15-8 Win over Lasell
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior Meghan Wright (Devon, Pa.) racked up five goals and two assists while classmate Laura Wacker (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added five goals to lead the MIT women’s lacrosse team to a 15-8 victory over Lasell College on Thursday night. Junior Britney Wuorio (Bolton, Mass.) paced the Lasers (2-2) with two goals and three assists in the first meeting between both programs which saw the Engineers’ record improve to 1-2 on the year.

Gordon Edges out Women's Lacrosse, 12-11
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – With 34 seconds remaining in regulation, sophomore Rebecca Smith (Verona, N.J.) knocked in a feed from junior Jane Dietrich (West Hartford, Conn.) to give visiting Gordon College a 12-11 victory over MIT in a non-conference women’s lacrosse game on Tuesday night. Both Smith and Dietrich finished with two goals and two assists for the Fighting Scots (1-0) while seniors Laura Wacker (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Meghan Wright (Devon, Pa.) earned hat-tricks for the Engineers (0-2).

Comeback Bid Falls Short as Southern Maine Tops MIT, 15-11
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Despite rattling off three straight goals late in regulation to cut its deficit in half, it would not be enough as the MIT women’s lacrosse team fell to the University of Southern Maine, 15-11, on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Nadia Wallace (Rochester, N.Y.) produced a game-high four points on three goals and an assist for the Engineers (0-1) while junior Rosie Forster (Andover, Mass.) paced the Huskies (1-0) with a hat-trick.

Women’s Lacrosse Releases 2013 Schedule
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT women’s lacrosse team begins its 2013 campaign on Saturday, March 2 with the first of four straight home games. A total of five new opponents appear on the Engineers’ schedule in addition to a six-game New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) docket.

Women's Lacrosse Named to IWLCA Academic Squad
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the seventh time in program history the MIT women's lacrosse team earned a spot on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Academic Squad. The Engineers are joined by NEWMAC rivals Mount Holyoke College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, and Wheaton College on the list of 61 Division III recipients.
