CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the seventh time in program history the MIT women's lacrosse team earned a spot on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Academic Squad. The Engineers are joined by NEWMAC rivals Mount Holyoke College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, and Wheaton College on the list of 61 Division III recipients.
"I am very proud of our team's achievement in earning Academic Squad honors for the 2012 season," said head coach Holly Glynn. "It is a true testament to this group's determination to excel both in the classroom and on the playing field."
A team must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale to be eligible for the award. The field of 61 honorees included NCAA champion Trinity College, runner-up Salisbury University, and semifinalists SUNY Cortland and Middlebury College along with 13 additional squads that participated in the national tournament.
