The 2008 NEWMAC Coach of the Year, Vanessa Cox enters her fifth season at the helm of MIT's women's lacrosse program. She was previously an assistant coach with the Engineers for two years.
Cox graduated from the University of Vermont in 2005 with a bachelor's of arts degree in political science. A four-year member of the women's lacrosse team, she finished as the Catamounts' all-time leader in points (173) and goals (133) while placing fourth in assists (40). Cox was a three-time America East All-Conference selection and was picked for the All-Rookie Team in 2002. The following year she received America East Championship All-Tournament Team accolades and capped off her career by being named to the America East Academic Honor Roll.
Cox continues to play competitively as a member of the Canadian National Women's Lacrosse Team. In 2009 she participated in the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Women's World Cup in Prague where her squad captured the Bronze medal.
