WORCESTER, Mass. – MIT junior Alisha Lussiez scored the game's lone goal in the 24th minute and the visiting Engineers topped host Clark University in NEWMAC women's soccer on Saturday afternoon at the Granger Soccer Complex. MIT, which posted its fourth shutout of the season and third in a row, improved to 5-1 on the year and 1-0 in conference play while the Cougars dropped their second straight and slip to 3-3, 0-1 in NEWMAC action.
Lussiez was set up by freshman Rachel Dias Carlson, who has registered an assist in two of the Engineers' last three games. Lussiez, meanwhile, has continued her hot play, having scored a goal in three straight games.
MIT held a 12-9 edge in shots and sophomore Megan Wright made the Lussiez tally stand by turning back four Clark shots. Cougar netminder Joanna Clark made six stops for Clark, who returns to the field on Wednesday when they visit Keene State. MIT hosts Lesley University on Tuesday beginning at 4:00 p.m.
