Cambridge, Mass. -- Senior midfielder Lauren Hernley has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's soccer player of the week.
Hernley scored her ninth goal of the season on the Saturday, the game winner in a huge 3-1 victory for the Engineers over Wheaton College. She now has four game winning goals on the season, tied for first in the NEWMAC. Her eighth goal of the year provided insurance in MIT's 2-0 victory over WPI on Tuesday.
To go with her nine goals, Hernley has two assists for twenty points on the year. She is currently tied for third on the NEWMAC scoring leaderboard.
Hernley has started all 12 of the teams' games this season and wears the captain's armband for the second straight season.
