CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT women's soccer team will be road warriors during the first month of the 2011 season as only two of eight games will be held at Roberts Field in Steinbrenner Stadium. The balance will swing in October, however, as the Engineers have six home contests including a season-ending four-game homestand.
MIT kicks off its campaign at Simmons College on September 1 and then travels to NCAA Tournament qualifier Brandeis University on September 3. The Judges are one of five teams the Engineers will face that made NCAA appearances last year as Worcester State University (September 6) and Roger Williams University (September 20) along wight NEWMAC foes Springfield College (September 24) and Wheaton College (October 8) earned spots.
The Cardinal and Gray's first home game is on September 6 against Worcester State University while the remaining home contest that month will be the Engineers' NEWMAC opener versus Clark University on September 17.
For the first time in program history, MIT will square off with previously mentioned Roger Williams, in addition to Tufts University (October 11) and Husson University (October. 25). The Engineers will conclude the regular-season by hosting NEWMAC rival Babson College on October 29.
