SALEM, Mass. – Junior Emily Kuo (Chicago, Ill.) registered her second straight game-winning goal as she provided the lone marker in MIT's 1-0 victory over Salem State University on Saturday afternoon. The Engineers improved to 3-1-0 on the year after picking up their third consecutive win against the Vikings.
In the 26th minute, junior Stephanie Cooke (Lanoka Harbor, N.J.) chipped the ball over the defense which Kuo headed in off the bounce past goalie Leah Potcner. Salem State's best opportunity to get on the board came with five minutes left to play courtesy of a free kick by Jackie Gauthier but it was grabbed by junior goalie Meghan Wright (Devon, Pa.).
Wright finished the game with nine saves and earned the 19th shutout of her career. Potcner turned away two shots for the Vikings.
Next up for MIT will be a trip to cross-town rival Lesley University on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
