CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Seniors Meghan Wright (Devon, Pa.), Emily Kuo (Chicago, Ill.) and Andrea Park (Irvine, Calif.) earned 2012 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Division III All-New England honors on Wednesday morning. Wright and Kuo were named to the first team and Park was tabbed to the second team.
Wright, the leading vote-getter for goalies and one of only four keepers on the entire list, is no stranger to this award, having received NEWISA All-New England honors three of her four years at MIT. As a sophomore, she was tabbed to the second team and last year as a junior, she was named to the first team. This season, she broke the MIT records in career shutouts (37) and career goals against average (0.63), while tying for first in fewest goals allowed in her career (52). She now ranked first in eight different categories in the MIT record book.
Kuo was named to the NSCAA Third Team All-America, NSCAA First Team All-New England, ECAC All-Star team, NEWMAC First Team All-Conference and was voted as the NEWMAC Athlete of the Year, all within the last two months. This is the second time she has been honored by NEWISA, as she was named to the first team her sophomore year. She ended the season tied for first in the NEWMAC in goals (13).
Park has been named to the NEWISA All-New team for the second year in a row, as she was tabbed to the third team as a junior, adding to the list of awards that she has received her senior year. She was named to the NSCAA Scholar All-East Region Honorable Mention team on Tuesday, the ECAC All-Star team earlier this month and the CoSIDA Academic All-District team in November. She is one of only three defenders on the second team.
