BRIDGEWATER, MASS. - The Bridgewater State Women's Soccer team played the visiting Engineers of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to a 1-1 tie today, on a beautiful day at Swenson Pitch.
Sophomore Katie Neary scored her second goal of the season for the Bears, as she capitalized on an assist from senior Christine Spellman in the 67th minute. MIT responded eleven minutes later, as sophomore Ashleigh Leonard found junior Diana Sterk in front of the goal to tie it up before the end of regulation.
Sophomore Suzi Estey played a scoreless first half in goal, as she tallied three saves. Sophomore Emily Schlosser came in for the remainder of the match, notching six saves of her own. Their counterpart for the Engineers, sophomore Andrea Staid played the entire match, registering three saves for MIT.
Bridgewater State is off until next Thursday when they host the Corsairs of UMass-Dartmouth. MIT opens up conference play on Saturday when they host the Beavers of Babson College in a battle between NEWMAC rivals.
