CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Sophomore Amy Ludlum was selected as the NEWMAC Player of the Week in women's soccer following a tremendous seven-day stretch in which she scored four goals, including two game-winning finishes.
Ludlum opened the week last Tuesday by notching her first career hat trick in a 3-0 victory over Fitchburg State. She scored her first goal inside the opening minute before adding another strike in the 41st minute. Ludlum capped the MIT scoring in the 56th minute to ensure Tech's first win of the campaign.
Two days later, Ludlum provided all the offense in a 1-0 victory against Bridgewater State. The game's only score was set up from Tech's own goal as Kat Vater sent a punt over the middle of the pitch to midfield. After wrestling the ball away from a Bridgewater defender, Ludlum raced toward the goal, with only the keeper to beat. Although the Bears' keeper played the ball well, Ludlum had too much space and fired home the unassisted finish for her second consecutive game-winner.
