CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Freshman Ellie Fodor (Trenton, Mich.) was rewarded for a pair of strong pitching performances last week, as she was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Pitcher of the Week on Monday. Fodor went 2-1 with a 1.22 ERA, 20 strikeouts and two complete games as MIT finished up its NEWMAC slate last week.
Fodor opened her week with an eight-inning shutout of Smith College. The freshman gave up just two unearned runs on seven hits while striking out five as MIT won 3-2 in extra innings. She then closed out the week with a complete-game shutout of WPI on Saturday, striking out eight batters, as MIT won 1-0. Fodor also pitched 2.1 scoreless innings in relief in game two against Babson on Friday.
The Engineers finished their conference season just one game out of the sixth and final NEWMAC tournament spot, at 7-9 in league play. The Cardinal and Gray will play its final doubleheader of the season on Thursday, April 26 at home against Salve Regina University.
