  • Joseph and Nasser Named To NFCA All-Region Teams

    Louisville, Ky. (May 16) – MIT softball junior outfielder Jasmin Joseph (Woodland Hills, Calif.) and sophomore pitcher Ravenne Nasser (Methuen, Mass.) have been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-New England teams, as announced by the organization on Monday evening. Joseph, who was placed on the Second Team a year ago, earned her second career honor this spring with a spot on the First Team, while Nasser was placed on the Second Team for the first time in her career

(May 8) – MIT softball junior outfielder Jasmin Joseph (Woodland Hills, Calif.), sophomore pitcher Ravenne Nasser (Methuen, Mass.) and senior catcher Ali Trueworthy (Rochester, N.H.) were all awarded with postseason honors from the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) when the league revealed its All-Conference and All-Sportsmanship selections this morning.

  • Softball Eliminated From NEWMAC Tournament With 6-3 Loss To Wheaton

    WORCESTER, Mass. (April 29) - The fifth-seeded MIT softball team was eliminated from the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament this afternoon as third-seed Wheaton College defeated the Engineers, 6-3, in game five of the double-elimination bracket. Wheaton moved on but fell to No. 1 seed WPI, 5-1, later this afternoon. MIT will now await word of a potential at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament as selections will be revealed on Monday, May 8 once the conference tournament concludes.

(April 28) - A sacrifice fly by Babson's Ashley Tango in the bottom of the first and a shutout pitching performance by Ali Reilly led the Beavers to a 1-0 win over MIT in game one of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament on Friday afternoon at WPI's Rooftop Field.
  • MIT Falls To WPI Twice, Takes Fifth Seed In NEWMAC Tournament

    WORCESTER, Mass. (April 23) - On the final day of New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play for the 2017 season, the MIT softball team fell twice to WPI. WPI won game one 2-0 and game two by a 4-3 score. With seeding now determined, MIT will be the fifth seed in the upcoming NEWMAC Tournament and play fourth-seeded Babson College on Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at No. 1 seed WPI. The winner of that game will face WPI at approximately 4:30 p.m. the same day.
  • Softball Rallies For Game One Win, Falls In Game Two To Earn Split With Wellesley

    WELLESLEY, Mass. (April 22) - The MIT softball team, ranked No. 4 in the initial NCAA Division III Northeast Regional rankings, used a seventh inning rally to defeat Wellesley College, 6-3, in game one but fell 4-2 in the nightcap to earn a two-game split with the Blue in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (April 19) - The MIT softball team dropped both ends of a non-conference doubleheader to Tufts University on Wednesday afternoon at Briggs Field. The Jumbos claimed game one by an 8-0 score and then went on to win the nightcap by a 7-3 final.

    BOSTON, Mass. (April 18) – MIT softball sophomore Ravenne Nasser (Methuen, Mass.) has been named as the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Pitcher of the Week after aiding the Engineers to a 7-1 week and their 20th win of the spring.
  • No. 25 MIT Takes Two From Simmons On Patriots Day

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (April 17) - The No. 25 nationally-ranked MIT softball team earned a two-game sweep of Simmons College in non-conference action on Monday afternoon at Briggs Field. The Engineers defeated the Sharks 11-1 in game one and followed it with an 8-0 victory in the nightcap. Additionally, senior Natalie Shifflet (Poway, Calif.) registered the 100th hit of her career and junior Jasmin Joseph (Woodland Hills, Calif.) broke the career triples record and tied the mark for most triples in a single season.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (April 15) - The MIT softball team, ranked No. 25 in the latest National Collegiate Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III National Poll, split a two-game set with Wheaton College in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Saturday afternoon at Briggs Field. The Lyons claimed the first game, 4-3, in eight innings before the Engineers stormed back to take the nightcap by a 3-2 final. Prior to the game, the Engineers honored seniors Monica Shifflet (Poway, Calif.), Ali Trueworthy (Rochester, N.H.), Helen Rosenthal (Bethesda, Md.) and Natalie Shifflet (Poway, Calif.) for the dedication to the MIT softball program over the past four years.
  • No. 25 MIT Runs Win Streak To Seven With Two Game Sweep Of Coast Guard

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (April 14) - he MIT softball team, ranked No. 25 in the latest National Collegiate Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III National Poll, earned a two-game sweep of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy behind outstanding pitching and timely hitting from everyone who played in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) doubleheader on Friday afternoon. The Engineers edged the Bears in game one by a 1-0 score and then used four runs in the first frame of the first game to win by a 6-1 final and secure the two-game set.
  • No. 19 MIT Breaks Shutout Streak Record With Pair Of Wins Against Clark, 3-0 & 4-0

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (April 11) - With two shutout wins against Clark University this afternoon, the No. 19 nationally-ranked MIT softball team broke the program record for most consecutive shutouts as the Engineers’ streak now sits at five after coming away with a 3-0 victory in game one and a 4-0 win in game two today. The old streak of four came during the 2015 campaign from April 2 through April 6 that year.
  • Dominant Pitching Leads No. 19 MIT To Two Game NEWMAC Sweep Of Smith

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (April 10) - Two excellent pitching performances from sophomore Ravenne Nasser (Methuen, Mass.) and junior Deanna Delgado (Miami, Fla.) aided the No. 19 nationally-ranked MIT softball team to a two-game shutout sweep of Smith College on Monday afternoon at Briggs Field. The Engineers defeated the Pioneers 8-0 in five innings in the opener and went on to blank them again in game two by a 5-0 final.

(April 8) - In a battle of two nationally-ranked teams, the No. 19 MIT softball team earned a hard fought split with No. 20 Springfield College on Saturday afternoon at Potter Field. The Pride took the first game by a 9-1 score, before the Engineers claimed the 1-0 win in the nightcap.

(April 7) - The No. 19 nationally-ranked MIT softball team earned its first league wins of the 2017 campaign this afternoon as the Engineers swept Emerson College in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) doubleheader at Rotch Field. In addition, MIT junior Jasmin Joseph (Woodland Hills, Calif.) became the all-time program leader in runs scored, which was held for 31 years by Stacy Thompson, with her three tonight as she set the new standard at 92 with many more games to come.

    CLERMONT, Fla. (March 29) - The No. 20 nationally-ranked MIT softball team finished their slate of games in Florida with a two game sweep of UMaine Farmington on Wednesday afternoon at the Legends Way Complex in Clermont, Fla. With the wins, MIT caps off its trip with an 8-0 record and will return home to open NEWMAC play this weekend. In two games, the Engineers totaled 33 runs and 30 hits to down the Beavers this afternoon.

    CLERMONT, Fla. (March 28) - Behind outstanding pitching from Deanna Delgado (Miami, Fla.), Amber VanHemel (Coconut Creek, Fla.) and Ravenne Nasser (Methuen, Mass.), the No. 24 ranked MIT softball team ran its win streak to six (6-0) as the Engineers downed Wellesley College, 3-2, in come from behind fashion and blanked SUNY-Potsdam, 3-0, on Tuesday afternoon at the Legends Way Softball Complex in Clermont, Florida. Additionally, junior Jasmin Joseph (Woodland Hills, Calif.) became the all-time leader in career stolen bases and now has 36 in her time with the Engineers.
  • No. 24 Softball Walks Off Against Potsdam, Bests Middlebury To Improve To 4-0

    CLERMONT, Fla. (March 26) - The No. 24 ranked MIT softball team used a suicide squeeze play to walkoff, 2-1, against SUNY-Potsdam this morning and then put together eight runs and 14 hits to defeat Middlebury College, 8-2, in the second game of the day to improve to a perfect 4-0 this spring. Today marked the first time since the 1994 season and third time in program history that MIT has started a season 4-0.
  • No. 24 Softball Opens Season With Wins Against Chicago and Southern Maine In Florida

    CLERMONT, Fla. (March 25) - A six run sixth inning against the University of Chicago and a five run fifth against the University of Southern Maine aided the No. 24 nationally-ranked MIT softball team to a 2-0 start to the 2017 season and clean beginning to the trip to Florida.

  • Softball Introduces Five As 2017 Freshman Class

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After finishing in fifth place at the NCAA Division III Softball Championship back in May, MIT softball head coach Jen Williams has announced that five student-athletes will make up the class of 2020. This group will add their talents to an Engineer squad that had their best season in program history with an overall record of 34-14 and winning both the Williamstown, Mass. Regional and Worcester, Mass. Super Regional en route the first-ever appearance on the national stage in Salem, Va.
