  • SUPER REGIONAL CHAMPS! MIT Softball Comes From Behind to Defeat Williams in Super Regional Finale

    Williamstown, Mass. (May 20) - For the second time in three seasons, the MIT softball team has won a Super Regional Championship and has advanced to the NCAA Division III National Championship, which will take place in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma next week as the 20th-ranked Engineers came from behind to defeat No. 12 Williams, 7-5, on Sunday afternoon at the Williamstown Super Regional.

    Williamstown, Mass. (May 18) - On the opening day of the 2018 Williamstown Super Regional, the No. 20 MIT softball team split two games with No. 12 Williams College to force a winner take all game three, which is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at a time to be determined later. The Engineers took game one, 4-2, before being edged by the Ephs, 1-0, in the nightcap.
  • Softball Sets Program Record with Four NFCA All-Region Honorees

    Louisville, Ky. (May 17) – With the announcement of the 2018 National Fastpitch Coaches Association’s (NFCA) All-Region teams, the No. 20 MIT softball team has set yet another program record. This year, four different Engineers earned All-New England honors marking the largest class in program history to be named All-Region by the NFCA.
  • MIT Softball Set to Travel to No. 12 Williams for NCAA Super Regionals This Weekend

    Cambridge, Mass. (May 16) – The No. 20 MIT softball team has advanced to the Super Regional round of the 2018 NCAA Division III Tournament and will play No. 12 Williams College in a best of three series in Williamstown, Massachusetts beginning on Friday, May 18 at 3:30 p.m. with games two and three scheduled for Saturday, May 19. The winner of the Super Regional will advance to the NCAA Division III Softball Championship next week in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

    Cambridge, Mass. (May 14) - After falling to Tufts University, 2-1, in game six of the 2018 NCAA Division IIII Cambridge Regional Tournament, the MIT softball team blanked the Jumbos, 7-0, in a winner take all game to win the regional title for the second time in three seasons. With the win, the Engineers improve to 36-8-1 and advance to the NCAA Super Regional next weekend and will take Williams College at a site to be determined later. Tufts sees its season come to a close with a 32-10 record.
  • No. 20 Softball Breaks Wins Record and Advances to Regional Final With 2-1, 14 Inning Win Over No. 18 Tufts

    Cambridge, Mass. (May 13) - The No. 20 MIT softball team defeated No. 18 Tufts University, 2-1, in 14 innings in the winner's bracket game of the Cambridge Regional in the 2018 NCAA Division III Softball Championship Tournament. With the win, the Engineers advance to tomorrow's Regional Championship game and also broke the program record for wins and now have 35 to their credit heading into tomorrow's game. MIT will need just one win tomorrow to move on to the NCAA Super Regional next weekend for the second time in three seasons.
  • No. 20 Softball Tosses No-Hitter in NCAA Tournament Opener Against Framingham State

    Cambridge, Mass. (May 11) - MIT junior Ravenne Nasser (Methuen, Mass.) and freshman Colleen Campbell (Snoqualmie, Wash.) combined to throw a no-hitter in the Engineers 2-0 win over Framingham State University on the opening day of the Cambridge Regional in the 2018 NCAA Division III Softball Tournament. With the win, MIT improves to 34-7-1 and will face No. 18 Tufts University tomorrow morning at 11:00 a.m. in the winner’s bracket, while Framingham State will play UMass-Boston in an elimination game at 1:30 p.m.
  • Four From MIT Softball Named To Google Cloud Academic All-District Team, Selected by CoSIDA

    Cambridge, Mass. (May 10) – Four members of the No. 20 ranked MIT softball team have been selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Team, as selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) organization throughout New England for their hard work both on the field and in the classroom. MIT led all of Division III with four selections this season.

    Westwood, Mass. (May 8) – After winning its first-ever New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship on Sunday, the No. 20 ranked MIT softball team took home two major awards and five All-Conference honors when the league announced its selections earlier this week. Highlighting the awards this season were Ravenne Nasser (Methuen, Mass.), who was named as the NEWMAC Pitcher of the Year, and Jen Williams, who was named as the Coach of the Year.
  • MIT Softball Selected To Host NCAA Regional This Weekend

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (May 7) – For the first time in program history, MIT will be the host site for one of 16 NCAA Division III Softball Championship regionals as announced on Monday afternoon via the 2018 NCAA.com selection show. Scheduled for May 11-13, the nationally-ranked Engineers will welcome Framingham State University, Tufts University and UMass-Boston to Cambridge for the double elimination tournament.
  • No. 18 Softball Walks Off In Eighth Inning to Win First-Ever NEWMAC Title

    Cambridge, Mass. (May 6) - For the second-straight day the No. 18 MIT Softball team walked off with a win, but this time the win resulted in the team’s first-ever New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship as the Engineers defeated third-seeded Babson College, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon in Cambridge. With the victory, MIT has earned the league’s automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament and will find out who they will be playing and where they will playing tomorrow afternoon when the bracket is revealed at 1:00 p.m. on NCAA.com.

    Cambridge, Mass. (May 5) - The top-seeded MIT softball team defeated second-seeded WPI, 6-0, in an elimination game at noon before walking off against third-seeded Babson College, 2-1, in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship series to force a winner take all game tomorrow between MIT and Babson tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.

    Cambridge, Mass. (May 4) - The third-seeded Babson College Beavers edged No. 18 MIT in eight innings in the winner's bracket game, 3-0, on the second day of the 2018 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Softball Tournament in Cambridge. Babson will now await the winner of tomorrow's elimination game between MIT and WPI and will need only one win to take home its second straight conference championship. The elimination game is slated for noon and the winner of that game will take on Babson at 2:00 p.m.

(May 2) - The MIT softball team, ranked No. 18 in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III National Poll, No. 1 in the latest NCAA Division III New England regional rankings and the top-seed in the 2018 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament, earned a hard fought 1-0 win over Springfield College on the opening day postseason play.

    Medford, Mass. (April 30) - In the regular season finale for the No. 19 MIT softball team, the Engineers fell to No. 21 Tufts University in a single non-conference game on Tuesday afternoon in Medford. Game two was postponed due to field conditions. MIT wrapped up its regular season with a record of 29-6-1 and will open play in the conference tournament on Wednesday.

    Cambridge, Mass. (April 24) - The MIT softball team, ranked No. 2 in the first NCAA Division III New England regional rankings, could not overcome an early 3-0 lead by Salve Regina University in game one as the Engineers saw their 20-game win streak come to an end with a 5-2 loss. The Engineers were up 13-1 in the third inning of game two but the contest was called due to darkness and will not be continued at a later date due to upcoming postseason play for both teams.

    Westwood, Mass. (April 23) – After helping MIT clinch the 2018 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Regular Season Championship, sophomore Devon Goetz (Rockville, Md.) has been named as the NEWMAC Softball Athlete of the Week for the second time in her career.
  • Softball Claims First-Ever NEWMAC Regular Season Title with Sweep of WPI
    April 21, 2018
    Worcester, Mass. (April 21) - The MIT softball team, ranked second in the first NCAA Division III New England Division III rankings, claimed its first-ever New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Regular Season Championship, with a doubleheader sweep of WPI, ranked No. 4 in the region, on Saturday afternoon at Rooftop Field. The sweep gave MIT its first-ever regular season title in the NEWMAC era and its first conference title of any kind since sharing the NEW-8 regular season crown with Wheaton in 1992. MIT took game one, 6-3, and clinched the title with an 11-2 victory in game two and will now be the top-seed in the upcoming postseason tournament which will start in Cambridge on Wednesday, May 2.
  • Softball Powers Past Smith in Both Ends of NEWMAC Doubleheader

    Northampton, Mass. (April 20) - The MIT softball team, ranked No. 2 in the first NCAA Division III New England regional ranking, came from behind to win game one, 7-2, before exploding for a season-high 14 runs in a 14-0 win in game two over Smith College in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) doubleheader in Northampton. With the wins, the Engineers pushed their win streak to 18, broke two team records and tied a third and kept their hopes of a NEWMAC Regular Season title alive heading into tomorrow's finale with WPI as the Engineers are now 27-4-1 and 15-1 in NEWMAC play.
  • Joseph Registers 200th Career Hit in Non-Conference Sweep of Simmons as MIT Extends Win Streak to 16

    Brighton, Mass. (April 18) - With an infield single in the top of the first inning of game two this evening against Simmons College, MIT softball senior captain Jasmin Joseph (Woodland Hills, Calif.) became the first student-athlete in program history to reach 200 career hits. Her efforts aided the Engineers claim a two-game non-conference sweep over the Sharks on the road and extend their win streak to 16. MIT won game one, 7-1, before taking game two, 8-0, in five innings. 
  • Softball Comes From Behind in Game One and Scores Nine in Game Two to Sweep Johnson & Wales

    Cambridge, Mass. (April 17) - The MIT softball team rallied from a run down to win game one by a 2-1 score in eight innings and then broke game two open early on and secured the two-game non-conference sweep over Johnson & Wales University by a 9-1 score in the nightcap. MIT’s offense put together 11 runs on 17 hits over the two games as the Engineers ran their win streak to 14 games and improved to 23-4-1 overall this spring.
  • Records Fall as Softball Takes Two From Springfield on Senior Day

    Cambridge, Mass. (April 14) - The MIT softball team broke two records, tied another and extended its winning streak to 12 as the Engineers swept Springfield College in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Briggs Field. Prior to the start of today’s first game, MIT honored its four seniors including Jasmin Joseph (Woodland Hills, Calif.), Zoe Hinton (Aurora, Colo.), Amanda Lee (Saratoga, Calif.) and Katherine Shade (Glencoe, Ill.) for their contributions to the program over the past four years.

(April 13) - The MIT softball team extended their winning streak to ten games this afternoon as the Engineers defeated Wellesley College twice in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) doubleheader at Briggs Field. MIT won game one by a 2-0 final and then the bats exploded in game two as the Engineers came away with an 8-0 game two victory.
  • Softball Runs Win Streak to Eight With Sweep of Eastern Connecticut

    Willimantic, Conn. (April 11) - The MIT softball team ran its winning streak to eight this afternoon as the Engineers swept Eastern Connecticut State University in a non-conference doubleheader in Willimantic, Connecticut on Wednesday afternoon. MIT came from behind to win game one, 5-2, before exploding for nine runs and a shutout pitching performance in game two to secure the sweep.

(April 8) - The MIT softball team moved atop the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) standings this afternoon as the Engineers took two games from Clark University on Briggs Field. MIT defeated Clark, 8-3, in game one before shutting out the Cougars, 9-0, over six innings in game two. In the nightcap, MIT freshman Colleen Campbell (Snoqualmie, Wash.) struck out a career-high 12 batters to clinch the sweep for the Engineers.

    Cambridge, Mass. (April 7) - The MIT softball team shutout Emerson College in both ends of a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) doubleheader this afternoon in Cambridge. The Engineers won game one in five innings by an 8-0 final score before topping the Lions, 7-0, in the nightcap.
