CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sophomore Christy Rogers (Bend, Ore.) became the second MIT women's swimmer to earn New England Women's and Men's Conference Swimmer of the Week honors the conference announced today. Rogers was selected after her impressive performance this past weekend at the MIT Winter Invitational that included setting three school records.
In addition to setting the Institute records, Rogers won three events as well. Her first victory came in the 50 Free, taking the win in 24.27. Her first school record came on the leadoff leg of the 200 Medley Relay, a 50 Back leg that she completed in a record time of 26.91. She then completed a sweep of the individual backstroke events, winning both in record times. In the 100 she came home in 57.03 and in the 200 she turned in a 2:05.43. All three records she set she bettered her own marks, with her 100 and 200 times also meeting NCAA B cut standards
