AS A JUNIOR IN 2007-08: Placed 5th in the 200 IM, with a Institute All-Time 9th fastest time of 2:16.13. Picked up additional points for the Engineers placing 10th in the 200 Breast and 13th in the 200 Free. A driving force in three of Tech's "B" relays--anchoring the 800 Free Relay to an 12th place finish, and providing blistering breaststroke splits to lead the 200 Medley Relay to 12th place, and the 400 Medley to an 11th place finish (ahead of all other "B" relays). Recorded collegiate best times in both the 100 and 200 Breast (1:12.79 and 2:36.81) in MIT's dual meet against Amherst in February.

AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2006-07: Made an impressive switch from sprint freestyle to Mid-D/IM, making her first championship finals appearance in the 200 IM with her preliminary time of 2:16.75, ultimately placing 6th. Her sub-2:00 performance in the 200 Free earned her fifth place (1:59.39) and a spot on the winning 800 free Relay, for which she gained First-Team All-Conference honors. Also placed 11th in the 200 Breast (2:38.02), and swam the lead-off leg for the 11th-place "B" 400 Free Relay team.

AS A FRESHMAN IN 2005-06: Earned her first top-16 finish with a preliminary time of 2:02.35, placing 15th in finals. Also placed 15th in the 100 Free (56.70), dropping .19 from her preliminary swim. Swam the lead-off leg of the Engineers' "B" 200 and 400 Frees Relay, which placed ahead of all other "B" teams. Tied with teammate Jolinta Lin '06 for 19th place in the 50 Free (26.13). Also a member of the "B" 400 and 800 Free Relays. Swam a blistering 25.06 on the 200 Free Relay against Wellesley, a lifetime best.

CLUB: The FISH Swim Team, coached by Gabe Ibanez, Mike Kraeuter, and Ray Benecki (1999-present); Victor Swim Club (-1999)...made several top-16 cuts in 1999-2000...swam at US Eastern Zone Championships in 1999, 2000, and 2001...placed 2nd at 2000 Zones in the 200 IM.

PERSONAL: Born November 4th, 1989 to David and Katarina Sam (20), is a junior at MIT and a member of the gymnastics team...also has two sisters: Esther (15), and Rachel (7)...lists her proudest collegiate moment as dropping seven seconds in the 200 IM at NEWMACs her sophomore year to be seeded 4th going into finals...a Course 9 (Brain and Cognitive Science) Major.
