Women's Swimming and Diving Slips Past Colby, 153-144

WATERVILLE, Maine – MIT women’s swimming and diving improved to 4-1 in dual-meet competition this season as the Engineers knocked off Colby College, 153-144. The Cardinal and Gray sealed the victory with a first-place finish in the 200 free relay at the end of Saturday’s meet.
Jen Chao, Sarah King, Ashley Pinchinat, and Amy Jacobi combined to deliver a meet-winning victory in the day’s last event with Jacobi splitting 24.62 to anchor the effort. Jacobi enjoyed an outstanding afternoon as she also won the 50 and 100 free. Jacobi authored a clutch finish in the 100, winning with a time of 55.37 to out-touch Colby’s Chelsea Heneghan (55.77).
Before joining forces for the 200 free relay, Chao and Pinchinat paced a 1-2-3 sweep for MIT in the 100 fly. Chao won the event, while Katie Creasey finished third. Chao also grabbed the top spot in the 200 fly behind a clip of 2:18.11.
The Engineers also secured wins from senior captain Nicole O’Keeffe in the 1650 (18:17.12), senior Kristin Uhmeyer in three-meter diving (172.55), and rookie Sydney Giblin in the 200 IM (2:16.39).
