12 First-Place Finishes Push MIT Past Wellesley

WELLESLEY, Mass. – MIT handed the Wellesley College swimming and diving team a 202-96 loss on Wednesday evening at Chandler Pool in Wellesley. The Engineers were paced by 12 first-place finishes in moving to 2-0 on the season, while the Blue fell to 1-1.

MIT was led by senior Jen Chao who took top honors in four events while Qing Li and Sarah King each notched three first-place finishes. Chao was an individual winner in the 100 fly (1:01.04) and in the 200 fly (2:15.07). She also picked up a victory as part of the 400 medley relay (4:16.93) with Li, Abby Clark and Katie Creasey, and won the 200 free relay (1:44.61) with King, Ashley Pinchinat and Sydney Giblin.

Li was an individual winner in the 100 back in 1:04.89 and the 200 back in 2:20.16. King picked up wins in the 200 free (1:59.61) and the 100-free (56.13).

The Engineers return to action for their home opener against Babson and Bowdoin on Saturday.
