Women’s Tennis Victorious in California

PASADENA, Calif. – MIT's women's tennis team showed no sign of jetlag in their cross-coast match against Mills College. The Engineers beat the Cyclones of Oakland, California 9-0 on Tuesday on the campus of Cal Tech.

MIT dropped just six games all match, as both the first and second doubles teams swept their opponents in 8-0 pro-sets.

Lauren Quisenberry and Candace Wu were perfect on the afternoon, winning at first doubles by a score 0f 8-0 and at first and second singles, respectively by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Julia Hsu and Bianca Dumitrascu also swept in second doubles, but were given a rest in singles competition. Katie ONeal and Melissa Diskin had little trouble beating Nina Sabahi and Sarah Knight 8-1 at the third doubles position.

O'Neal and Diskin were both unblemished in singles. O'Neal beat Christine Ferry in straight sets at third singles while in the fourth slot Diskin blanked Casey Honath. Jenny Dohlman came on for a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Veronica Perry and Jen Rees finished off Sabahi 6-0, 6-1 in sixth singles.

MIT improves to 3-0 in their spring season, and 8-4 on the year. They will return home from California and participate in the Wellesley Invitational on April 2nd with a match against SUNY New Paltz.
