CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After an impressive, 9-0, win to start the season against Assumption College on Saturday, the MIT women's tennis team saw three of its players sweep the first New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference weekly women's tennis awards of the season. Sophomore Vynnie Kong (Cupertino, Calif.) was named the Singles Player of the Week, while Junior Lauren Quisenberry (Corpus Christi, Texas) and freshman Victoria Tam (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.) earned Doubles Team of the Week honors.
After playing most of last season at No. 5 in singles, Kong moved up to No. 2 in the season opener against Assumption and clinched the team win for MIT with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Paige Gilet. Quisenberry and Tam got things rolling for the Engineers in the match when they swept through their No. 1 doubles match against Greyhounds, 8-0, to earn the fist point of the day.
