BOSTON, Mass. – After winning a pair of singles matches last week, senior Lauren Quisenberry (Corpus Christi, Texas) was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Tennis Singles Player of the Week the league announced today. She is the first Engineer selected for a women's tennis weekly award this season.
Both of Quisenberry's victories resulted in the deciding fifth point of the day for MIT as she led the team to a 2-0 week, with both wins coming in NEWMAC play. Her first triumph came in MIT's match against Wellesley on Saturday as she downed Sojung Lee, 6-3, 6-3 in their No. 1 match. Quisenberry then took another straight sets win on Sunday, defeating Rachel London from Springfield, 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 contest to clinch that match for the Engineers.
