NEWMAC Announces Fall Academic All-Conference Awards
BOSTON, Mass. – A league-leading 71 athletes represented MIT on the 2014 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Fall Academic All-Conference Team. Criteria includes a minimum GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale, achieving second year academic status at his or her institution, and being a member of a varsity team for the entire season.

Record Nine MIT Women’s Tennis Players Earn All-NEWMAC Honors; Matsuzaki Named Coach of the Year
BOSTON, Mass. – After completing a fall season that saw it compile a 10-1 record and win the regular season New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) title, the MIT women’s tennis team was well represented on the NEWMAC all-conference teams that were released today.

Women’s Tennis Falls In NEWMAC Final
BABSON PARK, Mass. – In a closely contested final, No. 1 seeded MIT saw its hopes for a third straight New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) championship dashed as No. 3 seed and host Babson College came from behind to upset the Engineers, 5-4. The loss was the first for MIT in 11 matches this season.

MIT Advances to NEWMAC Championship With 5-0 Win Over Mount Holyoke
BABSON PARK, Mass. – For a fourth straight year the MIT women’s tennis team will be playing for the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference title after the Engineers defeated Mount Holyoke College today, 5-0, in a conference tournament semifinal. The No. 1 seed, MIT will play tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. in the championship match that will be hosted by Babson College.

BOSTON, Mass. – For a second time this season the MIT women’s doubles team of junior Victoria Tam (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.) and sophomore Elysa Kohrs (Half Moon Bay, Calif.) has claimed the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Doubles Team of the Week award.

MIT Closes NEWMAC Season Undefeated
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – Playing its second match in as many days, the MIT women’s tennis team completed the 2014 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season schedule undefeated with a 9-0 win at Smith College. MIT moved its overall record to 9-0 and completed NEWMAC play with an 8-0 record.

MIT Blanks Clark, 9-0
WORCESTER, Mass. – MIT stayed undefeated in women’s tennis play this afternoon as the Engineers traveled to Clark University and scored a 9-0 win in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match. With the win MIT clinched the No. 1 seed in the NEWMAC Tournament that will be held Oct. 25-26.

MEDFORD, Mass. – Stepping out of conference play for the first time this season in a dual match, the MIT women’s tennis team scored an exciting win over cross-town rival Tufts University.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Playing a dual match for the first time in nearly two weeks, the MIT women’s tennis team did not miss a beat as the Engineers remained undefeated in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play with a 9-0 win over Wheaton College.

Kohrs Advances To Round of 16 at ITA Championships
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – After starting the season with a 5-0 record, the MIT women’s tennis team stepped away from dual match play this weekend for the annual USTA/ITA New England Regional Championships. The Engineers had seven singles players take the court during the tournament, along with all three of their doubles squads.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) battle of undefeated women’s tennis teams, MIT came from behind to edge Babson College, 5-4, keeping its win streak intact at five to start the season.

BOSTON, Mass. – For a second straight week the MIT women’s tennis team picked up a weekly New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) award when the league named junior Victoria Tam (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.) and sophomore Elysa Kohrs (Half Moon Bay, Calif.) the Doubles Team of the Week.

MIT Blanks Springfield, 9-0
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Playing for the second time in as many days, the MIT women’s tennis team stayed on its season-opening roll, taking a 9-0 win at Springfield College in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match. The victory was also a milestone for head coach Carol Matsuzaki who collected her 200th career win.

MIT Defeats Wellesley, 8-1
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In its second match of the season, the MIT women’s tennis team remained undefeated as it took an 8-1 decision over Wellesley College in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchup of last season’s NEWMAC Tournament finalists. Sophomore Krystal Lai (Irvine, Calif.) won a pair of matches to help the Engineers to the victory.

Women’s Tennis Opens Season With Victory Over Emerson
WINCHESTER, Mass. – MIT opened its 2014-15 women’s tennis season this afternoon, taking on New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe Emerson College at the Winchester Indoor Tennis courts. The Engineers looked strong in the opener, sweeping past the Lions by a 9-0 score.
