  • Kohrs Earns Second Career All-America Honor

    SKILLMAN, N.J. – After a second straight standout season, sophomore Elysa Kohrs (Half Moon Bay, Calif.) earned All-America honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) after completing the year ranked as the No. 14 women’s singles tennis player among the NCAA Division III ranks.

    SKILLMAN, N.J. – MIT’s women's tennis team was honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as the women’s team recipient of the 2015 ITA National Team Sportsmanship Award for the month of May. The University of Central Florida was named the men’s award winner.

    MASON, Ohio – The history-making run of the MIT women’s tennis team in the 2015 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championship came to an end today as the Engineers fell to Amherst College, 5-1, in a national quarterfinal match at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.

    FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – History was made today as the No. 13 MIT women’s tennis team defeated No. 4 Washington & Lee University, 5-3, in the third round of the 2015 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championship. With the victory the Engineers will advance to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the history of the program.

    FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – A comeback win in doubles and a strong effort in singles propelled the No. 13 MIT women’s tennis team to a 5-1 win over No. 19 University of Mary Washington in the second round of the 2015 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championship. MIT will now move on to play for the regional title tomorrow against No. 4 Washington & Lee University.
  • Women’s Tennis Rolls Past Franciscan In First Round of NCAA Tournament

    FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – In the opening round of the 2015 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championship No. 13 MIT had little trouble with its first round opponent, Franciscan University. The Engineers rolled past the Barons, 5-0, dropping just two games total in their five victories.
  • MIT Women’s Tennis Gains At-Large NCAA Bid, Opens Play Friday

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT’s women’s tennis team will be making its third consecutive trip to the Division III Women’s Tennis Championship this week. The NCAA announced that the Engineers received an at-large bid to the 2015 championship and will be one of 49 teams starting play in the tournament this week.

Freshman Cindy Liu (Claremont, Calif.) picked up a three-set win in singles play for one of the Engineer’s victories.

    CLAREMONT, Calif. – Playing nationally-ranked No. 13 University of Chicago for the first time in program history, the MIT women’s tennis team emerged with a 7-2 victory at The Claremont Club on Monday afternoon. The win raised the No. 16 Engineers’ ledger to 13-1 for the season.

Freshman Dora Tzeng (Freemont, Calif.) picked up a pair of wins for the Engineers, including a match-clinching win in singles play.

    BOSTON, Mass. – A league-leading 71 athletes represented MIT on the 2014 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Fall Academic All-Conference Team. Criteria includes a minimum GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale, achieving second year academic status at his or her institution, and being a member of a varsity team for the entire season.

The loss was the first for MIT in 11 matches this season.

    BABSON PARK, Mass. – For a fourth straight year the MIT women’s tennis team will be playing for the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference title after the Engineers defeated Mount Holyoke College today, 5-0, in a conference tournament semifinal. The No. 1 seed, MIT will play tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. in the championship match that will be hosted by Babson College.

    NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – Playing its second match in as many days, the MIT women’s tennis team completed the 2014 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season schedule undefeated with a 9-0 win at Smith College. MIT moved its overall record to 9-0 and completed NEWMAC play with an 8-0 record.
