BOSTON, Mass. – After winning back-to-back New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) titles, the MIT women's tennis team has been picked to make it a three-peat in 2014 in the league's preseason poll released today. The Engineers picked up seven of the eight first-place votes in the poll of the league's head coaches, with Babson College receiving the other first-place nod.
MIT returns six of its eight players that earned all-conference honors in 2013, including the NEMWAC Women's Tennis Rookie of the Year and All-American, sophomore Elysa Kohrs (Half Moon Bay, Calif.). Wellesley College, which was the runner-up last season, was picked second in the poll, followed by Babson College and Wheaton College.
MIT will open the 2014-15 season on September 6 when it will also kick off the NEWMAC season with a match against Emerson College that will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Harvard University.
