No. 19 Trinity Tops MIT, 6-3

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - In a six-hour battle with nationally-ranked No. 19 Trinity College, the MIT women's tennis team fell, 6-3, on Saturday. With the loss, the Engineers' ledger was lowered to 10-5 on the year.

The Bantams picked up back-to-back doubles points in the No. 3 and No. 1 positions. Karina Pikhart and Anisa McCree were defeated, 8-0, while Mariah Hoover and Leslie Hansen lost, 8-6. The No. 2 tandem of Joanna MacKay and Yi Wang put MIT on the board following a hard-fought 9-8 (4) victory.

The Engineers evened the match at two following Hansen's 6-4, 6-1 No. 1 singles win. Trinity regained the lead after Hoover's 7-5, 7-6 loss, but MIT posted the equalizer on Wang's 7-5, 6-2 victory. The Bantams went ahead for good after Lindsay Ruslander defeated MacKay, 7-5, 6-0, and then clinched the match when Serena Lin fell, 6-4, 6-7, 6-2. The marathon day wrapped up with McCree's 6-4, 6-2 loss in the No. 6 spot.
