Women's Tennis Falls To Trinity and Colby

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The MIT women's tennis team was defeated by Trinity College, 6-3, on Saturday, and Colby College, 5-4, on Sunday. The Engineers' record now stands at 9-6 on the year.

Against Trinity, the No. 2 doubles team of Mariah Hoover and Serena Lin posted the only victory for MIT, shutting out their opponent, 8-0. In singles action, Hoover dominated her match in the No. 4 spot, emerging with a 6-1, 6-0 win. Jill Konowich notched the final victory for the Engineers, as she tallied a final score of 7-5, 6-1.

On Sunday, Hoover and Lin won their doubles match, 9-8 (1). Jusleen Karve and Jaclyn Cichon gave Tech a 2-1 edge heading into singles play with an 8-6 victory in the No. 3 position. MIT fell in the top three singles positions. For the second match in a row, Hoover was a double-winner for the Engineers as she posted a 6-4, 6-4 victory. In the No. 6 spot, Joanna MacKay won, 7-6 (5), 5-6, 6-3. Konowich lost the decisive match in the No. 5 slot, 0-6, 6-1, 6-3.
