Engineers Take Brandeis, 7-2

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The MIT women's tennis team improved to 7-1 on the year following a 7-2 victory over Brandeis University on Tuesday. The Engineers won their third consecutive meeting against the Judges, which brings the series record to 20-19 in favor of Brandeis.

Opening up with the singles matches, Leslie Hansen picked up Tech's first point after a 6-1, 6-1 decision. Anisa McCree won her No. 4 match, 6-2, 6-1, while Emily Chen recorded a 6-2, 6-0, victory in the No. 6 position. Mariah Hoover extended MIT's lead to 4-0 after her 6-3, 6-0 win in the No. 2 spot. Yi Wang clinched the match by defeating Ariana Sanai, 1-6, 6-2, 10-1, while Joanna MacKay closed singles play with a 6-3, 7-6 (3) victory.

Hoover and Wang posted the Engineers' lone doubles win by blanking Gabrielle Helfgott and Emily Weisberg, 8-0. McCree and Kerry Weinberg dropped an 8-2 decision in the No. 3 spot while MacKay and Hansen lost, 8-6.

In exhibition singles play, Katie Smyth won, 6-3, 6-2, while Jackie Rogoff fell, 4-6, 6-3, 10-6.
