Engineers Win 11 Events En Route to Finishing First at Bates
Lewiston, Maine – No. 8 MIT women's outdoor track and field won 11 events on their way to a team win over Colby College and host Bates College on Saturday afternoon. Tech finished with 176.50 points, Bates was second with 129.50 points and Colby scored 110 points to take third.

Bullock and van den Heuvel Named Finalists for Arthur Ashe Award
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Seniors Justin Bullock (Detroit, Mich.) and Louise van den Heuvel (Nashua, N.H.) were named as finalists for the 2014 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award, as announced on Thursday by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education magazine.

Cimran Virdi Named NEWMAC Field Athlete of the Week
BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Cimran Virdi (Walnut Creek, Calif.) was named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon after a record-breaking weekend at RPI.

Tech Takes First at Engineer's Cup
TROY, N.Y. – MIT’s women’s outdoor track and field team, which was recently ranked 11th in the nation, finished in first place at the Engineer’s Cup on Saturday afternoon, taking the win with 184 points. WPI was second with 110 and host RPI was not far behind with 98. Throughout the day, the Engineers won a total of 12 events.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - MIT's women's track and field opened the outdoor season on Saturday in sunny California at the Westmont Collegiate Classic. Freshman Jackie Vahey (Winchester, Mass.) and junior Preethi Vaidyanathan (South Windsor, Conn.) each set a school record in their respective events.

LINCOLN, Neb. - No. 6 MIT women's indoor track and field team finished in seventh place out of 58 teams with 22 points at the 2014 NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday.

Cimran Virdi Wins Pole Vault on Day 1 of NCAAs
LINCOLN, Neb. - On day one of the 2014 NCAA Division III Championships, sophomore Cimran Virdi (Walnut Creek, Calif.) was the national champion in the Pole Vault with a personal record of 12-11.50, earning All-American status for the first time in her career.

MIT Women's Track & Field Sending 10 Engineers to NCAAs
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 6 MIT women’s indoor track and field will be sending 10 student-athletes to the NCAA Division III Championships, which will be hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan University at the Bob Devaney Sports Center this Friday and Saturday, March 14-15.

BOSTON, Mass. - After two days of competition at the New England Championships, the No. 4 MIT women's indoor track and field team ended the weekend in 13th place out of the 34 teams present with 25.5 points. Last year, the Engineers finished in 10th place with half a point less than this year.

MIT Men's and Women's Track & Field Move up in National Rankings
NEW ORLEANS, La. – Already in its fourth week, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll that was released on Wednesday afternoon revealed that both the MIT men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams have moved up in the rankings. Tech’s men, who were ninth last week, are now fourth, while the women’s squad moved up from third to second.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - After setting two new records at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University, a group of the No. 3 MIT women's indoor track and field team remained at home for the Gordon Kelly Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Junior Veronica Szklarzewski (Chicago, Ill.) led the Engineers with her two firsts and one second place finish.

Engineers Win 12 Events to Finish 1st at Tufts Stampede
SOMERVILLE, Mass. - After a busy weekend last weekend, which involved runners going to three separate meets, the MIT women's indoor track and field team had a quieter Saturday this time, traveling down the road to Tufts University for the Tufts Stampede Invite. Tech were victorious in 12 of the events, finishing in first out of 17 teams with a score of 231.50. Host Tufts was second with 165.50 and Bowdoin came in third place with 71 points.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – With some of the members of the #2 MIT women’s track and field team at Boston University for the John Thomas Terrier Invitational, another group of Engineers remained at home to host the Art Farnham Invitational, which was renamed to honor former head coach Art Farnham, who coached at MIT for 16 years, spanning from 1957 to 1973.

Cardinal and Gray End Busy Weekend with Strong Performances at John Thomas Invitational
BOSTON, Mass. – MIT’s women’s indoor track and field team went in many different directions this weekend, with a group of Engineers heading just over the river to Boston University for the John Thomas Terrier Invitational on Friday and Saturday. With no team scoring opportunities, the Engineers were competing for top performances and qualifying times for the various championships.

Track & Field Meet Renamed to Honor Former Head Coach Art Farnham
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT’s men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams will host the Art Farnham Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 12:00 p.m. The meet, which is being renamed to honor former cross country and track and field head coach Arthur “Art” E. Farnham, Jr., is the Engineers’ first home event of the season.

No. 2 Women's Track and Field Finishes in First at Bowdoin Quad Meet
BRUNSWICK, Maine - For the second weekend in a row, the No. 2 MIT women's indoor track and field team were competing in Maine, this time traveling to Bowdoin College for the Bowdoin Quad Meet . Tech ended the day in first place with 283.50 points, leaving a 130 point gap between it and second place Bowdoin with 152 points.

Engineers Continue Indoor Season at Bates Invitational
LEWISTON, Maine - MIT's women's indoor track and field team finished in first place at the Bates Invitational on Saturday afternoon, wrapping up the day with 181.50 points. Host Bates College was second with 107 and Colby College was third with 85.50.

Gong Breaks Varsity and Freshman Record at BU Season Opener
BOSTON, Mass. - Three members of the MIT women's indoor track and field team opened the 2013-14 season on Saturday morning, traveling just down the road to Boston University for the Season Opener. All three of the Engineers competed in the 3000m.

MIT Track & Field Lands 22 on USTFCCCA All-Academic Team
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Ten men and 12 women on the MIT indoor and outdoor track and field teams were named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team for the 2012-13 year, as announced late last month. The organization honored student-athletes for their combined efforts in the classroom and in competition.
