BOSTON, Mass. - The women's track team traveled across the river last Friday for the Valentine's Meet at Boston University.
Freshman Elizabeth Finn and Adrienne Bolger were MIT's top finishers. Finn completed the 5000 meter run in 17:56.43. Her time was a new freshman record for MIT and was good for 24th place in the 41 harrier field. The only better mark was achieved by varsity record holder Martha Buckley ('04).
In the 1000 meter run, Bolger made her way into 20th place and set a new MIT record with a time of 3:04.87. There were 56 runners in the race.
Sophomore Leanne Veldhuis set two personal bests in the 200 meter dash (27.58) and the 400 meter dash (60.73). Her time in the 400 was the second best in Tech history.
Two other marks also changed the complexion of MIT's top five all-time list. Junior Rachel Niehuus turned in a time of 1:22.50 (third) in the 500 meter dash and earned 26th place of 40 competitors. Freshman Jennifer Doyle took over the fifth spot on MIT's 3000 meter run all-time list with a time of 10:34.50.
