Women's Track Ties For 27th At New England Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - The women's track team competed in the New England Championships this weekend at Boston University. MIT finished in a three way tie for 27th place in the 32 team field. The University of Connecticut won the competition in convincing fashion. UConn accumulated 181.83 points, while second place Northeastern University earned 116.
Highlights were few for MIT, but freshman Adrienne Bolger provided one in the 1000 meter run. She completed the race in 3:00.68 and placed sixth, while Erin Ballard of Northeastern University took first with a time of 2:55.57.
In the 5000 meter run, it was again a freshman that shined for the Engineers. Elizabeth Finn crossed the finish line in 18:12.97 to finish 15th. Placing first was Keene State's Jennifer Adams (17:11.23).
Junior Hana Adaniya also had a strong performance, as she finished 19th with a time of 5:19.20 in the one mile run. In the pole vault, both junior Christine Fanchiang and freshman Emily Hwang put up solid numbers. Fanchiang tied for 10th place with a mark of 3.30 meters, while Hwang's 3.15 meter vault put her in 18th place.
The Engineers travel to Medford, Massachusetts on Friday, March 3 to compete in the ECAC Championships. The meet will begin at 2:00 p.m.
