  • MIT Volleyball Receives AVCA Team Academic Award and Honor Roll Placements
    July 28, 2017
    For the ninth time in 11 years the MIT men’s and women’s volleyball teams qualified for the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. MIT was one of four Division III programs to appear on both lists in addition to being the only Division III institution to have both the men’s and women’s teams earn spots on the honor roll.
  • Wuthrich and Gebhard Named to CoSIDA Academic All-America Team

    AUSTIN, Texas (December 6) – For the fifth time in program history and first since 2013 the MIT women’s volleyball team received multiple selections to the Division III Volleyball Academic All-America Team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Tuesday. Senior Tori Wuthrich (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) became the program’s third repeat honoree as she was voted to the first team while classmate Megan Gebhard (Howell, Mich.) earned her first plaudit following her placement on the second team.
  • Engineers Collect Trio of NEWVA All-New England Accolades

    Beverly, Mass. (November 22) – The awards continued to pour in for the MIT women’s volleyball team with the announcement of the New England Women’s Volleyball Association (NEWVA) All-New England Teams on Tuesday. Senior Megan Gebhard (Howell, Mich.) earned a spot on the first team while classmate Tori Wuthrich (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) and sophomore Abby Bertics (La Jolla, Calif.) were voted to the second team.
  • Gebhard Named AVCA All-American, Wuthrich and Bertics Receive All-Region Awards

    Lexington, Ky. (November 15) – For the third year in a row MIT senior Megan Gebhard (Howell, Mich.) was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America Team. A third-team selection, she closed her career as the program’s only multiple All-America honoree. Fellow senior Tori Wuthrich (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) and sophomore Abby Bertics (La Jolla, Calif.) represented the women’s volleyball team on the New England All-Region Team.
  • Women's Volleyball Falls to Springfield, 3-1, in Second Round of NCAA Tournament

    Despite a late rally, the MIT women’s volleyball team fell to Springfield College, 25-22, 15-25, 25-17, 26-24, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday afternoon. At the conclusion of the weekend, the NCAA announced its All-Tournament Team for the Medford, Massachusetts regional with senior Megan Gebhard (Howell, Mich.) representing the Engineers for the third in year in a row.
  • MIT Sweeps Framingham State in NCAA Women’s Volleyball Tournament Opener

    The MIT women’s volleyball team kicked off the program’s 18th NCAA Tournament appearance by defeating Framingham State University, 25-13, 25-17, 25-19, on Friday afternoon at Tufts University. Seniors Megan Gebhard (Howell, Mich.) and Tori Wuthrich (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) led all players with 11 kills and 17 digs, respectively.
  • Dill Named NEWMAC Coach of the Year, Women’s Volleyball Collects Four All-Conference Awards

    Boston, Mass. (November 9) – MIT women’s volleyball head coach Paul Dill was voted the NEWMAC Coach of the Year while the Engineers’ tied the program record with four All-Conference selections as announced by the league on Wednesday. Seniors Megan Gebhard (Howell, Mich.) and Tori Wuthrich (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) represented the Cardinal and Gray on the first team while junior Alli Davanzo (St. Johns, Fla.) and sophomore Abby Bertics (La Jolla, Calif.) were second-team picks.
  • MIT to Face Framingham State in First Round of NCAA Tournament

    Indianapolis, Ind. (November 7) – The MIT women’s volleyball team learned it will square off with Framingham State University in the opener of the NCAA Tournament on Friday. Hosted by Tufts University, the Engineers will take the court at 3:00 p.m. for the program’s 18th appearance in the tournament.
  • Women's Volleyball Defeats Clark to Capture Fifth NEWMAC Championship

    Top-seeded MIT defeated No. 3 Clark University, 25-14, 17-25, 25-16, 25-17, to capture its fifth NEWMAC Women’s Volleyball Championship on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Engineers will be making their 18th appearance in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
  • MIT and Clark Advance to NEWMAC Women’s Volleyball Championship Match

    Top-seeded MIT and No. 3 Clark University will meet in the NEWMAC Women’s Volleyball Championship for the first time following its semifinal victories on Saturday. The Engineers defeated No. 4 seed Babson College (25-16, 25-15, 25-27, 25-16) while the Cougars blanked No. 2 Springfield College (25-23, 25-21, 25-22) to set up Sunday’s title match.
  • Wuthrich and Gebhard Receive CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

    AUSTIN, Texas (November 3) – MIT seniors Tori Wuthrich (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) and Megan Gebhard (Howell, Mich.) were voted to the Volleyball Academic All-District Team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday. Both student-athletes will represent the Engineers on the national ballot and will contend for Academic All-America honors to be voted on later this month.

    Boston, Mass. (November 2) – A total of seven members of the MIT women’s volleyball team were named to the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team as announced by the league on Wednesday. The list is comprised of 50 total student-athletes from the sport of women’s volleyball.
  • MIT Sweeps Coast Guard on Senior Day

    The MIT women’s volleyball team closed out the regular season by defeating NEWMAC foe U.S. Coast Guard Academy, 25-16, 25-21, 25-16, on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Engineers ended conference play with a perfect 10-0 ledger, marking the ninth time the program has accomplished this feat and the first since 2009. In addition, MIT secured the top seed for the upcoming NEWMAC Championship Tournament.
  • Women’s Volleyball Battles Emerson for 3-1 Victory

    In a tightly contested NEWMAC women’s volleyball match, MIT emerged with a 21-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-21 victory over Emerson College on Tuesday night. Sophomores Carly Staub (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.) and Abby Bertics (La Jolla, Calif.) powered the Engineers’ attack with 14 kills apiece.

    Boston, Mass. (October 24) – For the third time this season the MIT women’s volleyball team swept the NEWMAC weekly awards as announced by the league on Monday. Senior Megan Gebhard (Howell, Mich.) collected her third Offensive Player of the Week accolade while classmate Tori Wuthrich (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) was tabbed for her fourth Defensive Player of the Week nod.
  • Engineers Capture New England Challenge Title

    In the second annual New England Challenge, the MIT women’s volleyball team was crowned the champions on Saturday. Using point differential to break a tie with Springfield College, the Engineers came out on top for the second year in a row. Senior Megan Gebhard (Howell, Mich.) was named the Tournament MVP while classmate Tori Wuthrich (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) was tabbed to the All-Tournament team.
  • MIT Women's Volleyball Defeats Williams, 3-1, in New England Challenge Opener

    The MIT women’s volleyball team battled Williams College for a 25-12, 25-20, 22-25, 25-17 victory in the opening match of the New England Challenge on Friday night. Senior Megan Gebhard (Howell, Mich.) tallied a match-high 15 kills and three solo blocks for the Engineers.
  • MIT Battles Babson for 3-0 Women's Volleyball Victory

    In a hard-fought NEWMAC women’s volleyball match, MIT emerged with a 27-25, 25-17, 25-16 victory over Babson College on Tuesday night. Junior Lisette Tellez (Miami, Fla.) led all players with 13 kills while hitting .333 in addition to finishing second for the Engineers with 15 digs.
  • Engineers Win MIT Quad Tournament

    For the fifth year in a row and the 10th time in tournament history, the MIT women’s volleyball team won the MIT Quad Tournament on Saturday. The Engineers took top honors with a 3-0 ledger, followed by Swarthmore College, SUNY Oneonta, and the College of Mount Saint Vincent. Senior Megan Gebhard (Howell, Mich.) was named the Tournament MVP while sophomore Abby Bertics (La Jolla, Calif.) earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team. In addition, the Cardinal and Gray recorded its 24th straight 20-win season as head coach Paul Dill’s squads have reached this mark every year during his 21-year tenure.
  • Women’s Volleyball Sweeps SUNY Oneonta in MIT Quad Tournament Opener

    The MIT women’s volleyball team kicked off the MIT Quad Tournament by sweeping SUNY Oneonta, 25-14, 25-15, 25-12, on Friday night. The Engineers produced a season-best .374 hitting percentage in the non-conference victory.
  • Women’s Volleyball Defeats Mount Ida, 3-1

    After splitting the first two sets, MIT stormed back to capture a 25-14, 23-25, 25-10, 25-16 victory over Mount Ida College in a non-conference women’s volleyball match on Tuesday night. Senior Megan Gebhard (Howell, Mich.) posted a match-high 10 kills and hit .529 percent while classmate Tori Wuthrich (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) led all players with 18 digs.
  • Engineers Top Colby-Sawyer in Three Sets

    In the first meeting between both programs since 2009, the MIT women’s volleyball team defeated Colby-Sawyer College, 25-9, 25-15, 25-16, in a non-conference tilt on Thursday night. The victory extended the Engineers’ winning streak to seven, matching a stretch from earlier in the season.
  • Efficient Offense and Strong Defense Help MIT Sweep Wellesley, 3-0

    The MIT women’s volleyball team hit .320 while holding host Wellesley College to a -.011 hitting percentage in a 25-18, 25-15, 25-11 NEWMAC victory on Tuesday night. Senior Megan Gebhard (Howell, Mich.) tallied a match-high 14 kills for the Engineers, just four shy of equaling the kill total by the Blue.

The comeback denied the Cougars their first win over the Engineers following 34 meetings between both programs since the series began in 1990.

    Boston, Mass. (September 19) – For the second week in a row, MIT senior Tori Wuthrich (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) was selected as the NEWMAC Women’s Volleyball Athlete of the Week. In a 2-0 week for the Engineers, she tallied 50 digs and contributed to a defense that limited opponents to a .120 hitting percentage.
