Women’s Volleyball Tabbed for First Place in NEWMAC Preseason Poll

Boston, Mass. (August 29) – In the NEWMAC Preseason Poll, the MIT women's volleyball team ranked first and received eight first-place votes as announced by the league on Tuesday.

The 2016 NEWMAC champions, the Engineers finished the year with a record of 29-5 after advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Returning to the team will be AVCA All-America honorable mention selection junior Abby Bertics (La Jolla, Calif.) along with senior Alli Davanzo (Saint Johns, Fla.) who joined Bertics on the NEWMAC All-Conference second team.

MIT opens the 2017 season on Saturday, September 2 when it travels to Morrisville State College for the two-day Mustang Invitational.
