CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The MIT women's volleyball team swept its second consecutive NEWMAC match of the season on Saturday by defeating Babson College, 30-19, 30-25, 30-19. The Engineers (9-3, 2-0 NEWMAC) used another strong team serving performance (13 aces) to counter the Beavers' tenacious defense. Although MIT piled up 46 kills, Babson's aggressive back-line play held Tech to a hitting performance of just 0.197.

Caroline Jordan served a nine-point run in the third game to open up a 13-4 lead, during which the Beavers were forced to use both of their timeouts. Briana Stephenson added five points on three kills and a pair of blocks, extending the Engineers' margin to 22-9. Cheryl Kwinn quickly picked up two digs and a kill on her first three touches as MIT cruised to victory.

Stephenson paced MIT's offense with 10 kills while Austin Zimmerman scored nine times on just 12 attempts. Alexandra Huston-Carico and Frances Rogoz added eight and seven kills, respectively. Arlis Reynolds anchored Tech's defense with 12 digs as Lindsay Hunting contributed 11 of her own.
