CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The MIT women's volleyball team swept its third NEWMAC opponent in a row as it defeated WPI, 30-13, 30-15, 30-25, on Tuesday night. The win raised the Engineers' ledger to 11-1 on the year and 3-0 in conference play.
Ellen Sojka recorded a fine hitting performance, tallying seven kills on 12 errorless swings for a .583 hitting percentage. Frances Rogoz and Katie Rowe bolstered Tech's offense with five kills apiece while Cathy Melnikow posted five of MIT's 13 aces. Lindsay Hunting paced the Engineers' defense with 11 digs as Carrie Buchanan totaled nine. Sojka and Briana Stephenson both registered three assisted blocks while Amanda Morris distributed 18 assists.
