CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Austin Zimmerman became the fourth player from the MIT women's volleyball team to be selected as the NEWMAC Player of the Week. She helped lead the Engineers (27-7, 9-0 NEWMAC) to a 2-0 week and the No. 1 seed in this week'sconference tournament.
In last Tuesday's 30-19, 30-13, 30-19 win over Smith College, Zimmerman distributed 36 assists which resulted in a team hitting percentage of .248. She also tallied eight digs, two aces, one solo and one assisted block. Against the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on Saturday, she dished out 45 assists and collected a season-high 20 digs in addition to one solo and one assisted block. For the week, Zimmerman averaged 11.57 assists per game, 4.0 digs per game, .86 kills per game, and .57 blocks per game.
