Engineers Dominate Saints Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. - One week after a record performance at the All-New England Championship, the nationally-ranked no. three MIT women's cross country team returned to Franklin Park and picked up where it left off at the Saints Invitational hosted by Emmanuel College. The Engineers recorded a perfect team score of 15, as all five of the top scoring finishes belonged to the Cardinal and Grey.

Katherine Eve broke the tape in 18:50.34, 26 seconds ahead of teammate Tania Morimoto, who took second. Eve's time was a personal best at MIT's home course. And the sixth fastest in program history After an Emmanuel alumna came across in third, the next three finishers were all Tech harriers. Alicia Kaestli's time of 19:40.77 was good for fourth. She was followed by Lauren Allen (19:54.04) and Juliann Lajoie (20:06.45).            

MIT's team total of 15 was well ahead of second-place Wheaton, which finished with 98 points.

The Engineers will take next week off before taking aim at their third straight New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship on October 31. The meet will also be held at Franklin Park and the women's race begins at 12:00 p.m., following the men at 11:00 a.m.
