The Engineers&#x2019; Institute-best finish once again registered as the highest performance by the New England Women&#x2019;s and Men&#x2019;s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).</description>

      <description>CAMBRIDGE, Mass. &#x2013; Joe Sousa, former head coach of MIT&#x2019;s women&#x2019;s cross country and outdoor track and field teams, passed away on June 8 after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. He began his seven-year tenure at MIT in 1991 with the cross country program and led the outdoor track and field team in its inaugural varsity season the following spring.</description>

      <description>CAMBRIDGE, Mass. &#x2013; Coming off one of the best seasons in the history of the MIT cross country program, six student-athletes were honored for their academic excellence by the United States Track &amp; Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Three men&#x2019;s runners and three women earned the All-Academic distinction from the USTFCCCA, after placing in the top 35 at the NCAA New England Division III Championship and compiling a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 or greater.</description>

      <title>Women Third, Men 12th at NCAA Division III Championship</title>

      <description>WAVERLY, Iowa &#x2013; Both the men&#x2019;s and women&#x2019;s cross country teams from MIT traveled to the NCAA Division III Championship this weekend and came away with tremendous results. The women earned their way onto the awards stand with a third-place finish, the best showing in program history, while the men placed 12th overall. Alina Gatowski brought home All-America honors with her 24th-place finish, as the women&#x2019;s squad, who entered the meet as the No. 13 ranked team in the country, totaled 214 team points. The men had 347 points, good enough for 12th place of the 32 squads in the meet, which is the best showing for the program at Nationals since 1994.</description>

      <description>BOSTON, Mass. - Katherine Eve raced away from the rest of the field, winning by over a minute, as MIT cruised victory at the annual Engineer's Cup meet against RPI and WPI at Franklin Park on Saturday afternoon. Eve completed the five-kilometer course in 18:39 to lead MIT to a sweep of six of the top seven spots, for a total of 18 points. RPI was second with 57 points ahead of WPI, which finished with 63.</description>
