Taylor Takes Title at Keene State

KEENE, N.H. – Junior Alexandra Taylor (Harbor Springs, Mich.) started the cross country season on a high note for the MIT women's team as she won individual honors at the Keene State Alumni Invitational. She was not the only Engineer to have a strong race, as MIT also took the team title by taking six of the top 10 spots to easily take the team title over host Keene State.

Taylor covered the two-mile course in 11:29, just edging out Jeptui Cherutich from American International who was also credited with the same time of 11:29. The Engineers went on to take places 4-6, with senior Brooke Johnson (Shoreham, N.Y.) starting the parade of Engineers with an 11:37. Right on her heels was freshman Nicole Zeinstra (Holland, Mich.) at 11:39 and sophomore Dacie Manion (Old Town, Maine) in 11:42.

MIT also took the Nos. 8 and 9 spots when freshman Allison Hallock (Boulder, Colo.) and junior Martina de Geus (Los Altos, Calif.) crossed the line with times of 11:52 and 11:55. In all the Engineers went on to take 12 of the top 20 spots in the event.

MIT will return to action in two weeks when it takes part in the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on September 15 at 10:30 a.m.
