    Led by an All-American performance from junior Leandra Zimmermann (Augsburg, Germany), the No. 2 ranked MIT women’s cross country team placed fourth out of 32 teams with 210 points at the 2017 NCAA Division III National Championship on Saturday afternoon.

    Placing three runners in the top 10, the No. 2 ranked MIT women’s cross country team claimed its second straight NCAA New England Regional title and sixth in program history with a total of 58 points on Saturday afternoon. The Engineers punch their ticket to the NCAA Division III National Championship meet, which is next weekend in Illinois.

(November 10) – Five MIT teams are ready to begin competition in NCAA events beginning this weekend after they all won New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships earlier this fall including women's volleyball, women's soccer, field hockey, men's cross country and women's cross country.

    The MIT women’s cross country team had a league-high 11 student-athletes named to the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women’s Cross Country Academic All-Conference Team. Overall, 69 women’s cross country runners were honored league-wide.
  • No. 3 Women's Cross Country Finishes Second at Cowbell Classic

    On Saturday, the No. 3 ranked MIT women’s cross country team dropped a narrow two-point final to No. 1 ranked Johns Hopkins University at the Cowbell Classic. MIT finished with 76 points as the team placed four runners in the top 20, while the Blue Jays finished with a 74-point total. The meet is the preview meet for the NCAA Division III National Championship, which will be held on this course on Saturday, November 18th.

    Westwood, Mass. (October 10) -- MIT junior Leandra Zimmermann (Augsburg, Germany) has been named as the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for her performance at the NEICAAA Championship.
  • No. 3 Women's Cross Country Claims D3 New England Championship

    Led by a 13th-place performance from junior Leandra Zimmermann (Augsburg, Germany), the No. 3 ranked MIT women’s cross country team placed third overall out of 28 teams and claimed the 2017 D3 New England Championship on Saturday at Franklin Park. MIT finished the meet with 131 points overall and beat out Tufts University for the D3 crown. The Engineers are currently ranked No. 3 in the latest USTFCCCA Division III national rankings and first in the New England region.
  • Bacher Leads No. 3 Engineers in Season-Opening Victory

    Led by three runners in the top 10, the No. 3 MIT women’s cross country team powered to a season-opening victory at the Purple Valley Classic on Saturday afternoon. The Engineers defeated eight nationally-ranked teams, including three in the top 10, to win the meet with a total of 55 points.
  • Gong Named as NCAA Woman of the Year Top 30 Honoree

    Indianapolis, Ind. (September 6) -- Former MIT All-American cross country/track standout Maryann Gong (Livermore, Calif.) has been named as a Top 30 honoree for the 2017 NCAA Woman of the Year Award. Gong is just the third student-athlete in MIT history to be honored as a Top 30 selection, joining Margaret Guo `16 (swimming and diving) and Lisa K. Arel `92 (gymnastics). Guo captured the 2016 Woman of the Year award and became the first MIT student-athlete to earn the honor.
  • Women's Cross Country Chosen First in NEWMAC Poll

    Westwood, Mass. (August 31) -- The MIT women’s cross country team, coming off a fifth-place showing at the 2016 NCAA Division III National Championship, has been chosen first in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Preseason Coaches Poll. The Engineers, who claimed the program’s 10th straight league title last season, were also the NCAA New England Regional Champions a year ago.
