Zimmermann Tabbed as NEWMAC Women's XC Athlete of the Week

Westwood, Mass. (October 10) -- MIT junior Leandra Zimmermann (Augsburg, Germany) has been named as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for her performance at the NEICAAA Championship.

Leading the Engineers to a third-place overall finish and the New England D3 Championship, Zimmermann finished 13th overall in a time of 18:23.9 to earn All-New England honors. She was the second D3 finisher overall as she averaged 5:55.3 per mile.

MIT returns to action on Saturday, October 14th as the Engineers travel to the Cowbell Classic in Elsah, Ill. The meet is being held at the Principia North Farm Course and is hosted by Principia College. The course is the site of the NCAA Division III National Championship, which will take place on November 18th.
